| Are OTC Sleeping aids bad for you? | | I know of a person who is taking OTC sleeping aids to get to sleep every night. At first I didnt think it was that big of a deal, but I have come to find out this person is using them EVERY night? Is this okay? Are they habit forming? Will this hurt this person in some way if they continue? I am worried, this is a good friend of mine and he/she doesnt seem to think anything of it. Like I said I didnt either when he/she mentioned it, but now I got to thinking if they are taking this every night could it do them harm? Can someone answer this question for me, and should I confront him/her or just let it be? | |

| | Anyone have to take some form of sleeping aids weekly | | Lately, I am having a lot of problems sleeping. I go to bed aroung 10 but I am up at 2 or three. I feel tired, but I can't sleep. I have had some really tough times lately so I know that is one of the cause of my lack of sleep. I brought a couple over the counter sleeping aids, but they do not work. I currently take Benadryl about 2 to three times a week. Anyone take Benadryl just for sleeping purposes? Have anyone tried Ambien or any other products? I tried the lavendar on my pillow turn off the tv etc have not work, any ideas tired. | |

| Have you ever tried any of the 'new' sleeping aids they offer by prescription? | | I recently was given some Lunesta to try for my insomnia. It was a toss between that and Ambien I guess. There's also another one out there that actually is used to reset your internal clock if you've gotten out of sync. The Lunesta and Ambien knock you out for 8 hours. The other one does something to reset your body's inner clock that tells you when to sleep and wake and won't give you a guaranteed 8 hours as it's meant to just put you back on schedule.

| | do you take melatonin to help you sleep | | from what i understand melatonin is the chemical that your brain produces to make you go to sleep. the day light keeps it from producing. so at night you release melatonin and you sleep. well they can extract melatonin from plants and you can buy it at your handy dandy walmart. i love taking melatonin. it gives me such a restful sleep and makes me have crazy vivid dreams. its really addictive though to some people and its recommended that you dont take it every day. i have seen it suggested to do a rotating schedual. like 4 days and take a day off or 4 weeks and take a week off.i dont take it that often. only when i have had trouble with my sleep for a while or if i am really stressed out. something about the way it helps me dream helps with my stress level. come to think about it maybe i should take about 4 or 5 nights of it. i could use it.do you have any experience with melatonin? please share here!!! | |

| its 3 am and I cant seem to get to sleep | | I just cant seem to get to sleep. Im tired but cant seem to doze off. Im sure sitting in front of the computer is not helping but I got tired on laying in bed and getting frustrated at the fact that I was still awake. Any ideas of ways to cure insomnia? | |

| Do you take any sleep aids to help you get a good nights rest? | | I hate to sleep, but when I need my rest there is nothing like laying there and counting sheep into the thousands. I've never taken a sleep aid but the other night I did, I don't know if it helped but I did feel better in the morning. It was an herb so its not habit forming, do you require a sleep aid so you can get your Zzzzzz's? | |
